Name: Angelina Capaccio
Age: 22
Hometown: Norwich, NY, USA
Bike: 2006 Stock Zoo Pitbull
Years Riding: 2-3
Likes to eat?: I love anything
barbequed, and I also like a lot of Thai food.
Likes to drink?: I always
try to drink water over soda, but if I have a soda craving, it's for Dr.
Pepper. I also enjoy a nice dark beer.
What
made you start trials?
When I first met my fiance, Brandon, he showed me trials, and the track
standing is what really impressed me. I immediately wanted to try. It
took me a couple years, but I eventually told Brandon that I wanted a
bike, and he bought me a frame for Christmas.
What was your first trials bike?
My first trials bike was actually a steel Nashbar frame. I rode on that
shortly until Brandon gave me his used Onza T-Rex. From there I got an
Echo ES3, then an Echo ES4R. Now I have my Zoo Pitbull.
Why did you choose to ride a stock?
My first trials specific bike was a "hand-me-down" from Brandon,
and it was a stock. I loved being able to roll over obstacles and it just
felt right to me. I had ridden a mod a couple times, but always went running
back to my stock
Who do you normally ride with?
Brandon
Who are your favorite riders?
Kenny Belaey is definitely one of my favorites. He is such a smooth rider.
When I watch videos of him riding, he just floats over obstacles. I strive
to ride like that. I also look up to Marc Caisso. He is a very smart rider.
Which riders would you say influence you
the most?
Brandon is definitely the first, he is my mentor and teacher, and riding
buddy. The trialsqueens also influence me! I love to see other girls out
there riding trials, and being successful.
What is the riding like where you live?
We do a lot of natural riding where I live. It can be very frustrating,
and at the same time, very rewarding. We mostly ride on rocks and logs.
There are some areas in New York that have amazing land for riding. I'd
have to say that some of the best natural riding is at Thunder Rocks in
Allegany State Park. This park has rocks the size of houses and cars.
There is riding for everyone from beginner to pro. We have to drive 4
hours to get there, but it is definitely worth it.
What are your plans for the rest of the
year?
My plans are to make as many competitions as possible and to move up in
skill level.
What are your long-term riding ambitions?
I hope to one day make it to the world rounds and be able to represent
the U.S. positively.
How do you take criticism from the opposite
sex - As you are a female in a male populated sport?
Fortunately, I don't face too much criticism. Any negative criticism,
tends to come through the internet, and in that case, I just ignore it.
Pretty much every guy that I have met at competitions has been the nicest
person. I have made a lot of friends in the trials community. I'm sometimes
surprised at how welcome I feel at competitions. And actually, any constructive
criticism coming from the guys is a huge compliment, as it means they
have accepted me as a trials rider.
What are you working on at the moment? Any
new video's coming out soon?
Hopefully I can make a video after the summer. (I have to get some programs
for my computer) Pretty much all I'm working on is getting better and
more confident
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd like to thank all the girls
so far for answering the questions and we hope that you guys out there
find it interesting to find out what exactly us female trials riders think
of the sport!
